1 Week Pregnant

In most cases, especially for women who are yet to decide whether they want a baby or not, it may be hard for one to realize that indeed she is 1 week pregnant. It can even go beyond the second week undetected attributing to the belief by many that a monthly menstrual cycle may come in late.

The first trimester will begin from the first day of your last period. This means, during your first week of pregnancy you do not have a baby in your womb. Only the ovum in your ovary is getting ready for fertilization by the sperm. By the time you realize that you are actually pregnant, you will be counting your fifth or sixth week.

By this time, you are still menstruating and this will continue for five to seven days. At this time, you are shedding blood along with the lining of the inner part of the uterus. After shedding, a certain hormone will be released to help you get prepared for pregnancy.

The symptoms of pregnancy will not occur in the first week. Generally women don’t fill any symptoms until fourth week. But frequent urination, breast soreness or tenderness, nausea and fatigue are some initial symptoms of pregnancy during the first week.

The pregnancy is countable from the first day of your last menstrual period, as it cannot be said when you actually became pregnant. So, even you do not have a fetus in your womb, this is the first week of your pregnancy.

During this time probably you are thinking of making your body ready for the imminent – pregnancy. In order to achieve this, you will need to adhere to the following rules:

  • Eat a diet comprised of all vitamins and nutrients, especially more zinc.
  • You should take some extra folic acid to prevent some diseases from attacking your fetus due to lack of folic acid.
  • If you are alcoholic,  you should abstain from now henceforth and avoid drinks with caffeine.
  • Avoid smoking at all costs.

Tips for 1 Week Pregnant

Well, if you have longing so much for pregnancy, you will definitely be the most joyous when your ultrasound test finally reveals it. Meanwhile, if you have been keenly observing your morning basal body temperature, then you should have realized that it stays higher beyond the 16th day of your post ovulation (luteal phase).

As such, this offers the initial bodily implication that indeed you are in the family way. This is the time to make contact with your healthcare provider to book an appointment. In case you haven adjusted you eating and lifestyle habits, this is best chance to do so.

Your doctor should be able to advice you on how to go about with your medication. He/she should be able to give recommendation on whether to adjust or stop any medication. Besides, this is now the right time to start ingesting vitamins as well as minerals like folic acid.

Bottom Line

In this case, if you want to know that you are indeed 1 week pregnant, then you will need to wait until the second week. At the end of the second week, a new egg will be released from ovary and be fertilized within 24 to 36 hour. At this stage, you don’t need to think of any changes in your belly size
